WALLACE, Idaho — Voters in Shoshone County will see a levy on their ballot, proposing $2 million to support the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office.
Former Sheriff Holly Lindsey resigned just weeks ago after an off-duty crash , and now interim Sheriff Lance Stutzke has taken over the fight for funding.
He says, due to budget constraints at the county level, the sheriff’s office may see a total reduction of $500,000 in budget if a $2 million levy does not pass.
The Shoshone County elections website says the levy is a 2-year excess levy that would allocate $2 million for the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, which works out to about $41.46 per $100,000 of assessed value, per year.
