SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Christian and Bridget Ziegler, a well-known Republican couple whose private lives drew public attention during a 2023 sexual assault case, are suing the City of Sarasota and two detectives involved in the case.

The federal lawsuit, filed Oct. 31, accuses the Sarasota Police Department and detectives Angela Cox and Maria Llovio of “deliberate and egregious” violations of the Zieglers’ Fourth, Fifth, and Fourteenth

The lawsuit also stated “Due to their status as prominent conservative figures, both Christian and Bridget are often the victims of harassment by liberal activists.”
