SALT LAKE CITY — At least one person was seriously hurt after a driver crossed into oncoming traffic on Interstate 15 near Cedar City on Monday morning, hitting multiple vehicles.

The Utah Department of Transportation said the crash took place just south of Cedar City in the northbound lanes.

“ A southbound vehicle crossed over and hit several vehicles. One vehicle is on fire and all of (northbound) is shut down. At least one serious injury that I know of right now,” said Sgt. Mike Alexander with the Utah Highway Patrol.

Alexander later said that one lane had since been opened and traffic was moving, but UDOT cameras showed serious delays in the area.
