WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Read & Rise Breakfast Gala was hosted by Storytime Village on Monday morning.
The event is aimed at shining a light on those that are helping to champion children’s literacy in the community. Awards are given out to various individuals and organizations making an impact as a way of honoring them.
Some of this year’s recipients include The Pando Initiative, Wichita Park and Recreation, and Kansas Chapter American Academy of Pediatrics.
“We know that it takes a village to raise a reader, and we also know that if you don’t have the basic fundamentals of reading by the end of 3rd grade, your chances of succeeding in school and life are challenged,” said Dr. Prisca Barnes, the Founder and CEO of Storytime Village.
