Major changes could be in the pipeline for UK roads as the Government grapples with the issue of "dazzling" headlights. The authorities are considering alterations to headlight standards and clamping down on the illegal sale of overly bright bulbs.
This comes after a recent RAC survey disclosed that over a quarter of drivers confess to feeling nervous about driving at night due to intense headlights. A large part of the problem is linked to LED (light-emitting diode) headlights, which are significantly brighter than traditional halogen bulbs.
The situation is further exacerbated if the headlights are not correctly aligned, along with the growing popularity of taller vehicles like SUVs, which can direct the light beam directly into the eyes of drivers in smaller cars.
