Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has given the nation a reason to cheer twice over, first by leading India to its maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title, and now with news of her upcoming wedding.

The Indian women’s team created history by defeating South Africa in the 2025 World Cup final, clinching the country’s first-ever title in the tournament’s history. Mandhana, serving as vice-captain and opening batter, gathered 434 runs in nine matches, including three 50s and a match-winning 92 in the semi-final against Australia.

Soon after the victory, music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal, Mandhana’s fiance, celebrated her achievement on social media. “Am I still dreaming? This part of my life is called happiness," he wrote, sharing a picture of Smriti holding the World Cup trophy.
