KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen and Board of Education held a joint work session on Monday and discussed plans for two new elementary schools.
The plan is to open a new elementary school at the Lynn Garden Community Center by the fall of 2029 and another at the Tribe Athletic Complex (the former Sullivan North High School) by the fall of 2031, according to Assistant Superintendent Andy True.
With the opening of the new Lynn Garden school, the school system would close Kennedy and Roosevelt elementary schools. When the new school opens at the former Sullivan North site, Jackson Elementary would close.
