JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Town of Jonesborough's Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Monday temporarily halted the development of any future data mining centers in the town, as well as considered an ordinance establishing the regulation of THC and CBD products.

The BMA voted on a second and final reading to put a two-year moratorium, or prohibition, on any Bitcoin or similar data mining centers in the town. Mayor Kelly Wolfe told News Channel 11 that the BMA wanted to get ahead of data mining center developments and regulate which zones they would be available in, if any.

Then, in regard to cannabis regulation in Tennessee's Oldest Town, Wolfe said the town hopes to align its municipal policies with those of the state.

"Like with alcohol, we have a local function regulating alcohol,"
