The Coles website is back online after earlier suffering a brief intermittent "technical issue", with customers being directed to the supermarket's app.

"Earlier today some customers experienced a temporary technical issue when attempting to shop online," a Coles spokesperson has told nine.com.au.

"The issue has now been resolved, with customers once again able to place orders as normal.

"Any orders that were successfully processed during this time will be fulfilled as planned."
