CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Crews responded to a fire that caused exterior damage to a Cedar Rapids restaurant Monday.
At approximately 7:30 Monday, the Cedar Rapids Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from a light fixture inside a restaurant in the 2800 block of Blairs Ferry Road NE.
The caller said five people were inside the building when light smoke became visible and they could smell it.
Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from an outside support pillar. Crews opened the pillar and used a hose line to put out a small fire inside.
The fire department says crews searched for remaining hot spots. Crews contained the damage to the outside of the building.
The incident is under investigation.
