GONZALES, La. (WAFB) - Detectives said they are pursuing a new lead in an unsolved homicide investigation in Gonzales.

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. on December 8, 2023, on Burnside Highway between E. Neal Street and E. Worthy Road. Craig Haynes Jr. was killed.

Officers with the Gonzales Police Department are now seeking information about a light-colored 2004-2008 Honda Civic. Investigators said the car was seen going north on Burnside Highway near Worthy Road around the time of the shooting.

Detectives believe the Honda and its occupants may be able to provide vital information about the case.

According to police, Haynes was traveling north on Burnside Highway in a black Chevrolet Malibu the night of the shooting. They said his vehicle was struck by gunfire, causing it to crash
