BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The federal government will send partial SNAP benefits to states for November after a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to tap into contingency funds for the program.

The USDA will use $4.65 billion from its contingency fund, which is about half of the more than $8 billion it costs to run the program each month. SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, is a federally funded program administered by each state.

Funding delays are already impacting Alabamians and millions of Americans across the country.

Local recipient worries about uncertainty
