A man has died after being pulled from the water at a popular surf break near Margaret River in WA's South-West.
Emergency services responded to reports of a surfer in distress in the water around midday at Gnarabup Beach in Prevelly, about 270 kilometres south of Perth.
Police say the man received first aid but he could not be saved and was declared dead at the scene.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
Gnarabup Beach is known for its calmer, more protected waters when compared to other more hazardous breaks in the area.
The beach, which is located just 10 kilometres from Margaret River's town centre, is a popular swimming spot for families. Loading... Loading
