Because Stephen King is one of the most popular writers of all time, his novels are constantly being turned into movies. There are exceptional films, like the classic The Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, and the modern classic The Long Walk. There's also the atrocious, like Firestarter and the recent Salem's Lot film. Finally, there's one movie that audiences adore, as it is hailed as one of the greatest films ever made, but... Stephen King himself really isn't a fan. Anyone who knows Stephen King lore knows we're, of course, talking about The Shining, and, despite King's hatred of the movie, it's currently a major hit on streaming.
