Mobile food pantries will open at 15 locations in six regions across the state starting Wednesday for families that have lost Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits due to the federal government shutdown, Gov. Kelly Ayotte announced.

She also urged residents and companies to assist the $2 million state initiative by making donations to the New Hampshire Food Bank, which is implementing the food distribution effort.

“SNAP and other critical programs should be funded because the federal government should be open,” said Ayotte, a former U.S. senator. “Politicians in Washington need to get their act together and end this shutdown.”
