For 23 years, Calgarian Kurt Bosinski has worked in the same Safeway store where his father worked before him.
As he stocks the fruits and veggies, Bosinski thinks about his connection to his father, knowing that these are the very same shelves that his dad stocked and that some of his co-workers also worked with his dad. It’s a constant reminder for Bosinski of the traumas he experienced as a kid.
At the age of 18, Bosinski worked up the courage to tell his parents that, in his youth, he had been sexually abused by a close family member. He is still troubled by their response.
Looking him in the eye, they told him that it didn’t happen and he should get over it.
“I always had this never-ending feeling that something bad was going to happen,” Bosinski said.
