Diane Ladd, who was a terrific actress in movies like Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Wild at Heart and Rambling Rose (all of which earned her Oscar nominations) died at the age of 89.

That news came from Laura Dern, the fellow actress who is Ladd's daughter (her dad is Ladd's ex-husband Bruce Dern). Per a statement via the Hollywood Reporter on Monday: "My amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother, Diane Ladd, passed with me beside her this morning, at her home in Ojai, Ca. She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created."

What was the cause of death? There's no official word on that. Sending good thoughts to her family and loved ones.
