BRAINERD — Crow Wing County commissioners approved a new structure for the Brainerd Lakes Area Drug Education.

“So we want to prevent drug use and preserve our community,” said Kara Terry, community services director, at the Oct. 28 board meeting. “That's the mission, all right. And so this new statement doesn't replace our mission, but helps to guide our work together. We create spaces where individuals can find hope, healing and community, that's really the goal …”

The presentation memo to the board noted community members, including Crow Wing County Community Services and the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, came together in 2019. The goal was to ”address challenges in child protection, substance misuse, and the limitations of relying solely on law enforcement to solve these issues.
