WASHINGTON (AP) — Dick Cheney, the hard-charging conservative who became one of the most powerful and polarizing vice presidents in U.S. history and a leading advocate for the invasion of Iraq, has died at age 84. He also attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a doctoral student.
Cheney died Monday night due to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease, his family said in a statement.
According to UW-Madison , Cheney was a doctoral student in political science from 1966-68 and attended for three semesters as a full-time student. His last semester consisted of him attending as a part-time student, although his time at UW-Madison was cut short. He left the home of the Badgers for a congressional fellowship in Washington, D.C., not completing his degree.
