ELK GROVE, Calif. —
One person has died after being hit by a vehicle on Monday evening in south Sacramento.
According to the Sacramento Police Department, it happened just before 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Sheldon Road and Butterscotch Way.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, near the city limits, where they found an adult male pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries.
Even as crews began lifesaving measures, the pedestrian died from his injuries at the scene, police say. The driver of the striking vehicle stayed at the scene.
Officers have closed the intersection and the Sacramento County Coroner's Office will release the name of the man once his next of kin has been notified.
