PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A woman has been arrested for allegedly starting a fire Monday that damaged her apartment and three other residences in Downtown Peoria.
The Peoria Fire Department said firefighters were called shortly before 3:30 p.m. to an apartment building run by Phoenix Community Development Services in the 200 block of Northeast Madison Avenue, which is between Hamilton Boulevard and Fayette Street.
The building’s sprinkler system helped crews quickly bring the fire under control, but four apartments had fire and water damage, said Battalion Chief Mike Ralston.
The chief estimated the damage at $80,000. No one was hurt. Ralston said five people, including the arson suspect, were displaced.
