PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - An El Paso man arrested for allegedly making threats against President Donald Trump will stay in jail until his trial.
The ruling came from Judge Ronald Hanna, who ordered Derek Lopez detained in a court hearing Monday afternoon. Lopez is accused of making death threats against the president on social media, specifically X. His political posts began when the president took office, driven by a desire to “rattle some change,” though his family disagreed with his methods.
During his FBI interview, Lopez expressed dislike for the president, calling him and others “Nazis,” but also stated “Idk” (I don’t know). He initially denied the posts were threats and even livestreamed an FBI phone interview, treating it as a joke.
