Law enforcement officials in Philadelphia are investigating after, police said, a woman was shot in an incident that happened early Tuesday in the city's Nicetown section.

According to police, officers responded to the 4500 block of North Uber Street in the Nicetown section of North Philadelphia at about 6:23 a.m. on Tuesday morning after a 23-year-old woman was shot.

The woman, officials said, was shot in her right arm and was taken to a nearby hospital where she was placed in stable condition.

A suspect is in custody in this case but, officials said, an investigation is ongoing.
