YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The suspect in a 2000 cold case rape in Canfield has other victims who have come forward, prosecutors said Tuesday at his arraignment in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Jack Sheetz, 57, pleaded not guilty before Judge Maureen Sweeney in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to a charge of rape and two counts of kidnapping, all first-degree felonies.
A trial date of Dec. 15 was set before Judge Sweeney. She set bond at $750,000.
Sheetz was secretly indicted Oct. 23 by a grand jury and arrested the next day in Akron. He had recently been released from prison, where he was serving a nine-year sentence from Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, where he was indicted in 2016 for a December 1996 home invasion rape in Howland.
