Vigilance is the message from Hamilton police after yet another string of distraction thefts — including three on the same day.
In a release Monday, police said the thefts in Ancaster and on the Mountain all involved suspects who approached strangers to offer gifts or engage in unsolicited conversation and physical contact.
Three of the four incidents flagged by police happened on Sunday, starting around 10:45 a.m. near Upper James Street and Fennell Avenue.
Police said an individual was walking in that area when they were approached by a man and woman in a silver Ford Flex who asked for directions before offering gold chains as a gesture of appreciation.
The individual declined and the suspects left.
