Hamilton police have arrested a 53-year-old man who was allegedly prowling in the backyard of a student residence near McMaster University.
Police were called to the Bond Street South home around 10 p.m. on Monday for a suspicious male in the backyard.
A female resident told police that the man had disabled the backyard light and then fled when he was discovered.
Officers found the suspect in a nearby yard, police said. He allegedly gave a false name and was arrested.
Through the investigation police identified him as a 53-year-old man of no fixed address, who allegedly has a history of similar offences.
He is charged with obstructing police, trespassing/prowling, three counts of criminal harassment and failing to comply with a probation order.
