Local organizations around Hamilton are partnering with the city to launch a fundraising campaign to provide aid to Jamaica in wake of a historic storm in the Caribbean.
Representatives from the Afro-Caribbean Canadian Association of Hamilton (ACCA) and Jamaican Foundation of Hamilton (JFH), along with Mayor Andrea Horwath, announced the new “Hamilton Loves Jamaica” campaign at an event at city hall Tuesday morning.
“We’re inviting every Hamiltonian, everyone who loves Jamaica, to be part of this effort,” said association president Evelyn Myrie, who is also originally from Jamaica, at Tuesday’s press conference.
