BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A woman is dead after her roommate allegedly accidentally shot her on Monday afternoon, Nov. 3.

Authorities identified the victim as Blanca Azucely Caalxo, 26.

According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene around 1:05 p.m. at the Greenwell Village Mobile Home Park on Greenwell Street.

Officials said the woman who was shot was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where she died.

Deputies said Caalxo’s roommate, identified as Henry Gonzales-Castro, 17, was arrested for allegedly accidentally discharging the weapon and shooting Caalxo through the wall.

Gonzales-Castro is facing charges for negligent homicide and illegal possession of stolen firearms.

The investigation is ongoing.
