LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A man was rescued from a house fire in the Portland neighborhood.

According to the Louisville Fire Department, a home in the 3100 block of Bank Street caught fire Monday night.

They were called to the fire around 9:40 p.m.

When they arrived, firefighters learned an adult and two children had gotten out safely, but a 62-year-old man was still in the basement.

LFD said they were able to successfully rescue him and get him treatment.

The American Red Cross will help those who were displaced.

Fire officials said the fire was brought under control within 11 minutes and 26 firefighters, four engines and two trucks responded to the scene.

At this point, it is unclear what started the fire.

Louisville Arson is handling the investigation.
