LAPLACE, La. —
Louisiana State Police have arrested a man in connection with a hit-and-run that left a bicyclist dead.

The crash happened on Friday, Oct. 25, around 1:30 p.m. on LA 628 near Chaisson Lane in LaPlace.
Troopers were notified of a body on the highway, later identified as John Martin, 66, of Montz.
Detectives were able to determine that Martin died after being hit by a car while walking a bike in the eastbound lane.
Through investigation, they discovered Martin was hit by a 2018 Dodge Charger, driven by Joseph.
A warrant was obtained, and Joseph Jr. turned himself in to the police on Monday.
He is being charged with hit-and-run driving.
This is an ongoing investigation.
