District Attorney Matthew Barton announced that Erin Malchow, 40, of Southaven, has been sentenced to 25 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Harvey Satterfield, 65.
The crime occurred on September 17, 2023, in Southaven. Investigators said Malchow bludgeoned Satterfield, who later died after a period of hospitalization.
“This sentence reflects our commitment to public safety,” Barton said. “If you commit violent crime in DeSoto County, you will receive real prison time.”
The Southaven Police Department led the investigation, using physical evidence and digital forensics to identify and charge Malchow.
