Florida will have major races for governor and U.S. Senate coming up in 2026, but some voters in Alachua County cast ballots today in a variety of races, with polling places open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In Northeast Florida, most municipalities did not hold local elections today, except for two cities in Alachua County. Gainesville voters were asked to make a choice in a referendum regarding the future of the Gainesville Regional Utilities Authority. In High Springs, a city commission seat is on the ballot, along with four proposed charter amendments, and a proposed code amendment.
