JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The annual Johnia Berry Toy Drive officially started on Tuesday.
Food City has hosted the memorial drive, which provides gifts for children in memory of Johnia Berry, who was killed during a home invasion in 2004.
News Channel 11's Anslee Daniel spoke with Johnia's mother, Joan, who started the toy drive 21 years ago.
"Johnia had a great love for children, and that's what she was doing on the night she was murdered, she was actually wrapping presents for children that she had bought presents for," Joan Berry said. "In her memory, I think that this is a wonderful thing to do. It helps all the needy children and families. I'm just blessed to be able to do that and so grateful."
