At least six people were reportedly killed and several others injured after a Korba-bound passenger train collided with a stationary goods train near Bilaspur railway station on Tuesday, triggering panic and major disruption of rail services in the region.

According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred around 4 pm when a MEMU passenger train rammed into a stationary goods rake near Lalkhadan, just outside Bilaspur station limits in Chhattisgarh. The force of the collision caused multiple coaches to derail, severely damaging the tracks and trapping several passengers inside.

Rescue teams from the Railways, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local administration were immediately deployed to the spot to carry out evacuation and relief operations.
