HANNACROIX, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, the Medway-Grapeville Fire District was dispatched to a heavy fire at a single-family home in Hannacroix. There were no reported injuries, but two residents were displaced.

First Assistant Chief Matthew Marlow said the call came in as a chimney fire that quickly spread through the roof. When firefighters arrived, they reported a heavy fire through the roof of the house and requested mutual aid.

The Coeymans Hollow Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for additional manpower and tanker help. According to the fire company, upon arrival, crews began attacking the fire from multiple operations.

Marlow said an aggressive interior attack was launched, but strong winds caused the fire to intensify.
