ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A multi-million dollar donation was made to an Atlanta HBCU by a well-known philanthropist for the second time.
On Monday, Spelman College announced what they call “a transformative, unrestricted” $38 million gift from MacKenzie Scott, the former wife of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
This is her second time giving to the university in the past five years, as she previously gave around $20 million to Spelman in 2020, which the university said “helped to support student scholarships and increase its endowment to provide a lasting source of funding for scholarships and academic programs.”
