A man was charged in the theft of a trailer after flipping it while trying to flee police.
Nipissing West OPP said they initiated a traffic stop early Monday on a vehicle that was towing the trailer along Dutrisac Road in Sturgeon Falls.
“The vehicle attempted to flee from police but overturned the trailer when making a turn,” the OPP said in a release. “The trailer was found to be stolen and the driver was arrested.”
A search of the vehicle located a small amount of drugs suspected to be crack cocaine.
Scott Smith, 36, from West Nipissing, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft over $5000, and possession of a hard drug.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on Dec. 4.
