HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A woman with dementia was found near Holyoke Hospital, about two miles from her home, thanks to the Hampden County Sheriff's Office's Project Lifesaver program.

The program provides radio-frequency transmitters to individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, autism, or other conditions that make them prone to wandering, allowing trained deputies to find them quickly and safely.

In a social media post by the Hampden County Sheriff's Office, at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, a 67-year-old woman wandered away from her home. She was reunited with her loved ones by 3:50 p.m. by members of the Project Lifesaver response team.
