ORANGE CITY, I.A. (Dakota News Now) - A cause has been determined after a fire in Orange City caused a home to be ‘uninhabitable’.
On Sunday, Nov. 2, at approximately 1:35 p.m., multiple units responded to a residential fire in Orange City, IA.
According to officers and firefighters, observations suggested that the fire had been suspicious in nature.
After investigating, it was determined that a 12-year-old juvenile male had been playing with fire and rubbing alcohol in a bedroom of the house.
The fire quickly became uncontrollable and ignited in the home.
While the fire was able to be extinguished, the house has been deemed uninhabitable by firefighters.
The 12-year-old has been charged with Reckless Use of Fire/Explosives/Destructive Devices and referred to juvenile court.
