SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls broke ground on a major expansion on Tuesday.
The hospital announced a 35,000 square-foot addition, the biggest construction project since the Heart Hospital was built in 2001.
The $21.5 million addition will house high-end diagnostic imaging services, including advanced cardiac PET/CT and SPECT scans.
Doctors said this new technology will help pinpoint heart disease and show blood flow to the heart.
The expansion also makes room for more clinic services for North Central Heart.
