It's been a wild week and change for the administration of LSU, but at least one piece of the puzzle has now come into place.
On Tuesday, the university announced that it is hiring Wade Rousse as its next president. Rousse, who was previously the president at McNeese, replaces William F. Tate IV, who left to become the president at Rutgers over the summer.
Amid a time of upheaval, it brings at least a bit of stability to LSU's operation as it begins its search for Brian Kelly's replacement after he was fired on Oct. 26. It's not the only leadership position the school is searching for, however, as it also needs a new athletics director after firing Scott Woodward.
There has been heavy speculation that Rousse would bring McNeese AD Heath Schroyer with him to Baton Rouge. Schroyer has served as the athletics director at McNeese since 2021, a role he moved into after three years as the school's men's basketball coach.
Alignment is a major buzzword during college coaching searches, and having the two most important positions at the university open created quite a bit of uncertainty about the future of the football program.
Now, the Tigers will hope to have a unified front coming into the coaching search with a president (and, hopefully, soon an athletics director) in place. In the meantime, interim athletics director Verge Ausberry has been given full authority by the university to conduct the football head coaching search.
