POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY, Iowa —

A Pottawattamie County judge dismissed the case against an alleged kidnapper because that suspect is now facing federal charges.

Devon Miller, 30, was arrested for first-degree kidnapping in August after he reportedly picked up a 12-year-old girl in Omaha and took her to Council Bluffs.

Previous coverage:

He pleaded not guilty to second-degree sexual abuse and enticing a minor under 13.

Court documents say the 30-year-old admitted to sending messages to the girl on Snapchat , a platform that advocates say is often used by predators.

Miller is now facing a federal charge of transportation of a minor.

His trial is scheduled for early December.
