With less than 30 second remaining in the Boston Celtics -Utah Jazz game on Monday night, and with the Celts trailing by one, Jaylen Brown was dribbling against Jazz guard Keyontae George at the top of the key when George suddenly slipped on a wet spot on the parquet floor and fell down.
Brown fell down almost immediately after, resulting in a lost ball turnover that led to a fastbreak bucket by Lauri Markkanen on the other end. Boston down three.
Celtics fans were outraged, as it looked in real time like Brown had tripped over George, a clear foul in Boston’s favor.
However, closer inspection of the replay shows that Brown slipped — not from any contact from George — but from Brown’s left foot slipping on the same wet spot on the court that took George down.
