DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- Darlington County deputies have arrested a woman accused of trying to suffocate a 2-year-old, the sheriff's office said.

Sugjaria Kennedy was charged with attempted murder and unlawful conduct toward a child. She was booked into the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center on Tuesday morning, where she awaits a bond hearing.

It happened Tuesday on Timmonsville Highway in the Darlington area, according to the sheriff's office, who said Kennedy pushed the toddler into a bed, blocking her mouth and nose. Kennedy was interrupted by a witness, who then called 911.
