COLUMBUS, Ohio — The City of Columbus has five bond issues on the ballot this general election for capital improvement projects.
Mayor Andrew Ginther and Columbus City Council placed the bond package, issues 5-9, that would allow the city to borrow up to $1.9 billion for a range of public projects — from affordable housing to police and fire stations, parks and infrastructure.
“Columbus is growing. We have to invest in our infrastructure,” said City Council President Shannon Hardin.
Hardin said $500 million of the proposal would go toward affordable housing, calling the investment critical as the city projects it will need 100,000 additional housing units over the next decade.
