LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities on Tuesday announced the arrest of a Lexington County man on charges connected to artificial intelligence-generated child sexual abuse material — among the first arrests made under the state’s new statute criminalizing AI-generated child sexual abuse materials.

Investigators say 25-year-old Adam Asad Kelton of Gaston possessed files containing AI-generated child sexual abuse material. The arrest was made by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, with assistance from the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services.
