BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The man accused of shooting and injuring the Assumption Parish Sheriff was arrested on Tuesday.
According to the sheriff's office, Paul Blanchard, 60, was arrested after an arrest warrant was issued on Oct. 22.
Detectives learned that Blanchard confronted a man near his home in the 600 block of Bayou Drive West and ultimately fired a shot, striking the man. APSO Sheriff Leland Falcon responded to the shooting, where he found the victim. Blanchard is accused of firing a shot at Sheriff Falcon's direction, grazing him.
An additional deputy fired at Blanchard, authorities say.
Blanchard was taken to a local hospital for his injuries. Records state that Blanchard was released from the hospital on Tuesday and was booked into a Louisiana State prison faci
