ERVING, Mass. (WWLP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a 40-year-old Erving man who appeared to have fallen from a tree while hunting Monday evening.

Police said they were called to the area of French King Highway on Monday around 6:45 p.m., where they found the man dead, lying near the base of a tree.

The incident remains under investigation by the Erving Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Northwestern DA's Office. As of Tuesday, police say no foul play is suspected.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death. We will continue to provide updates as soon as new information is released.
