GASTONIA, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Police are asking people to avoid the roads near the Gaston County Courthouse Tuesday afternoon after a man was shot the area.
According to Gastonia Police, officers responded just after 2 p.m. to the courthouse on Dr. MLK Jr. Way, where they found a male with a gunshot wound. The courthouse has remained open, and there is no threat to the public.
Detectives from GPD's Criminal Investigations Division and CSI were at the scene.
The victim was transported to the hospital, but his condition is unknown at this point.
Traffic on Dr. MLK Jr. Way is still impacted as of 3:45 p.m.
