CHESTER, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Chief of the Chester Police Department William Petty is resigning after only two years on the job, Mayor Carlos Williams announced.
Mayor Williams says Petty submitted his letter of resignation to the town council, effective November 7. He says the chief received another opportunity, but did not give details on his plans.
Petty was hired on November 23, 2023.
Queen City News has reached out to the Chief Petty and the city for comment, as well as who will be the interim police chief. We have not heard back.
